HARD EDGES
Hard Edges is an improvising brass trio comprising Chris Dowding (trumpet, piccolo trumpet & flugelhorn), Dave Amis (trombone) and Ben Higham (tuba, trumpet & flugelhorn). They have performed together for around 5 years, having worked individually with influential musicians such as trombonist Annie Whitehead, drummer John Stevens and pianist Keith Tippett.

Hard Edges explore the sound palette and textures of three brass voices, from explosive blasts to more subtle multiphonics, drones and more. The collaboration grew out of various other groupings and influences.

Their live album, ‘No Halves’, was released in September 2022 on the Camojazz label.
That month, they also led the ‘overtones and undertones’ workshop at YARMONICS and consequently performed with participants at this sonic arts festival in Great Yarmouth.
The Texture of Perception (Plus) is a new SPECIAL EDITION of the album 'The Texture of Perception' with six pieces of artwork by Laure Van Minden made in response to each track.
